Every care worker plays a vital part in minimising the risks associated with cross infection. This ½ day course provides staff with the knowledge required to keep themselves and their clients safe. Staff will gain understanding of the chain of infection, how infection is spread, blood borne diseases, how to minimise risks when dealing with accidental spills, effective hand washing techniques and more. The course works within NICE guidelines and those set out by the Department of Health.

This full day course will cover medication storage, administration and disposal. It will provide staff with their responsibilities under legislation, policies and procedures. It will look at legislation, COSHH assessments and their importance, how chemicals enter the body and the potential harmful effects of short and long term exposure. The course covers how to use chemicals correctly and shares the correct procedures for various tasks using chemicals, as set out in the HSE care home guidance. it also covers correct disposal methods of chemicals.
